Job description: the person holding the position will teach Master’s level journalism and communication at the Universities of Neuchâtel and Geneva, with focus on journalism and communication, as well as Bachelor of Sciences level Economic Sciences. The candidate must be interested in journalism and the production of digital information and in the related professional issues. The candidate must be capable of teaching the new information technologies and their application in journalism (in research and in information publishing) as well as their related issues (reinvention of journalism, the economics of trust, journalistic added value in a new competitive environment, etc.). With respect to research, the candidate will elaborate projects hand in hand with media companies active in innovation and with their umbrella organisations, and work on fundamental research projects focussing on specific issues.
Requirements: the candidate must be the holder of a doctorate in Journalism and Media or in related areas, with strong teaching skills, excellent knowledge of issues linked to digital journalism in Europe (including the practical aspects) and present a portfolio of high quality publications and on-going, highly promising research. Teaching will be in French and English (non-French speakers may be granted a 2-year grace period before they are required to teach in French). Skills in one of the other Swiss national languages (German, Italian) and a solid knowledge of journalism in Switzerland are an advantageous asset.
Starting date: 1st August 2020 – or upon agreement
