Postdoc / Scientist in “Advanced Inventorying and Monitoring for the Swiss Forest (Swiss AIM)” (80%-100%)
The Advanced Inventorying and Monitoring System for the Swiss Forest (Swiss AIM) is an initiative aimed at making the existing forest inventorying and monitoring infrastructures more fit and responsive to environmental challenges. You are responsible for supporting (i) the development of design options in relation to the existing infrastructures (e.g. Swiss National Forest Inventory – NFI; Long-term Forest Ecosystem Research - LWF) and (ii) the related organizational aspects. In particular, you (i) develop proposals for the network and plot design; (ii) organize the necessary steps for developing the Swiss AIM initiative at WSL and beyond, including field tests, workshops and reports; (iii) write a manuscript on the subject, intended for an international journal. You will work in close collaboration with the Head of the Research Unit, the team of the Swiss National Forest Inventory and other Research Units / Programs at WSL.
You have a University degree in forestry, statistics, or related disciplines (University, ETH) with a PhD, desirably in the field of forest inventory and monitoring. Knowledge of the Swiss NFI is an advantage. You are fluent in English, and possibly in a Swiss national language. You have an independent and structured way of working. Conceptual skills and professional conduct complete your profile.
