PhD Modelling Forest Services I
You enlarge the forest development model MASSIMO, based on data from the National Forest Inventory (NFI), in terms of climate sensitive regeneration and mortality. Together with the partner-PhD “Modelling Forest Services II” you classify typical forest types in Switzerland based on NFI data and define forest management scenarios for these forest types together with stakeholders. You implement these scenarios in MASSIMO and assess the model results based on an indicator system for sustainable forest services. In collaboration with the partner-PhD you scale your findings and recommendations to the national level of Switzerland. The results are expected to be published in international scientific journals.
You hold a master in forest or environmental sciences and are very interested in ecological and economic development of forests and its services. Good knowledge in statistics (preferably in R) is mandatory and experience in statistical modelling is an asset. You have a good command of English and speak at least one national language.
