Main focus on: Numerical Methods for Multiphase Flows OR Multi-scale Modeling and Simulation for Biological Systems OR Statistical Learning with an emphasis on Reinforcement Learning
The chair develops computational tools for the study of complex scientific and engineering problems. Their main research areas are: Multiscale particle methods and derandomized optimization algorithms applied to areas of Life Sciences, Fluid Mechanics, Nanotechnology and their interfaces. They emphasize the parallel development of algorithms, software, hardware and applications.
The applicant should hold a master degree in Computational Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or Physics. We particularly encourage applicants with expertise and interests in Particle Methods, Multi-resolution analysis, High Performance Computing, Stochastic optimization and Machine Learning. We encourage applications from scientists with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and working in a highly collaborative environment. Salary will be in accordance with ETH Zurich standards. The position is for 3 years with a possibility for extension of one year.
