This PhD is embedded in an international research project on localization and identification of moving sound sources (aircraft, railway) by microphone array technologies. In this PhD, a virtual test environment will be developed that emulates outdoor propagation effects on sound pressure signals. This involves the computational reproduction of ground reflections and atmospheric turbulence that will be studied by theoretical considerations, numerical simulations as well as experimentally by performing field measurements with flying drones.
You have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in acoustics or electrical/mechanical engineering or physics. A strong interest in numerical simulations, audio signal processing and field experiments is expected. Additionally, very good command of English (speaking and writing) is required.
We offer an exciting position in a top ranked research institution and research infrastructure environment. The starting date is upon mutual agreement. The duration of the appointment is three years.
